The research in my laboratory is focused on understanding the molecular and cellular basis of extracellular matrix assembly. The work has direct relevance to tissue morphogenesis, protein trafficking of large and multimeric proteins, tissue engineering, and in understanding the aetiology of some of the most debilitating diseases of man and animals, such as fibrosis and arthritis, that are characterised by ectopic and unusual synthesis of collagen fibrils.
